Description
Bhasma, also known as Vibhuti, is sacred ash used in Hindu rituals and puja ceremonies. It is believed to have purifying properties and is commonly applied to the forehead, between the eyebrows (the “third eye” area), as a mark of devotion.
Here’s how to use bhasma during puja:
- Take a small amount of bhasma in your right hand.
- With your left hand, sprinkle a few drops of water on the bhasma to make a paste.
- Apply the paste to the forehead, between the eyebrows, using your right hand’s ring finger.
- Chant the name of your deity or the mantra associated with the puja.
- Once the puja is over, remove the bhasma from your forehead.
It’s important to note that bhasma should be obtained from a trusted source, as fake bhasma can be harmful. Additionally, bhasma should only be applied to a clean forehead, and the paste should not be ingested.
